Frequently Asked Questions About CBD
At Hennepen’s, we’re hemp evangelists. We hope to not only be a great resource for superior quality CBD products but for information and education as well. While we work on building our information library we can start simple:
CBD is the best known non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid, but it's only one of dozens that live in the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. While each phytocannabinoid has its own health benefits, they actually work best when they're consumed together, something scientists refer to as the “Entourage Effect.” CBD (cannabidiol) is a phytocannabinoid - a molecule synthesized by plants. There are 113 known phytocannabinoids in the cannabis plant, including CBD and CBG. Contrary to popular belief, CBD does not directly interact with either the CB1 or CB2 or the newly discovered CB3 receptor; instead it interacts with other parts of the body and almost acts as a primer for those cannabinoid receptors. CBD has been found to have a variety of different supplemental benefits and is often used by people that are experiencing pain, anxiety and other forms of distress
The short answer is no: CBD does not get you high. While CBD is another chemical found in Cannabis like THC, unlike THC it does not have a psychoactive effect on the individual. Instead, the focus is on different receptors in your body.
For Hennepen’s, superior quality means not only that the material is being harvested sustainably and grown organically, but that it is extracted through a non-industrial process. Most CBD on the market is produced via large industrial operations with less care. Hennepen’s carefully monitors and controls the entire process to ensure all of the terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids and other plant constituents are fully retained.
Calculating dosage of CBD is a very personal process. It's going to depend on body weight, metabolic rate and the overall condition in which you are treating your body. This, combined with the concentration of CBD in each softgel, topical, drop or gummy you are consuming will be the blueprint for your CBD experience. Experts recommend 1 milligram (ml) per pound of body weight. For example: at 200 pounds experts recommend approximately 200 milligrams of CBD per day. Obviously, this will heavily depend on budget and again, the condition in which you are treating your body. To keep it simple though, 1 milligram per pound of body weight is a great starting point for people that are beginning a CBD regiment.
Hemp Extract is referred to as the extract that comes from cannabis -- to put it simply. Hemp extract consists of all oleoresins that are present in the hemp plant. In the Cannabis Sativa plant, there are an array of different oleoresins including cannabinoids, plant oils, terpenes, naturally occurring gums, sugars and other constituents -- all of those together comprise the oleoresin, or Balsam, which is hemp extract. Different extraction methods, different solvents and non-solvent methods can be used to extract the oleoresin from the plant and in the end we are left with the purified extract and we can take that through the steps to get pure cannabinoids or other peer constituents that were present in the initial extract.
All Hennepen's products contain 0.3% percent (or less) THC by law. We also carry products that contain 0% THC and with those products there will be very minimal risk of failing a drug test. In the products that do contain 0.3% or less THC which is all of our Full Spectrum products, the answer is yes, you are taking a risk of failing the drug test. There is a very small amount of THC that is allowed by law within the Full Spectrum products. If this is a concern, consider consuming our isolate and broad spectrum products.
